Getting Your Site Into Portals and Search Engines Using ODP Data
If your site has been accepted into the Open Directory Project (DMOZ), it may take anywhere from 2 weeks to several months for your site to be listed on partner sites which use the Open Directory data, such as AOL Search, Google, Netscape Search, Yahoo Search, and hundreds of other sites. Submitting to MSN Search*
MSN Search is an important crawler-based search engine and still actually powered by Yahoo. Generally their web crawler, MSNBot, can find most pages on the Internet. However, if your site does not appear on MSN Search, you can submit your site for free at their URL Submission page.

Submitting to Alexa
Alexa may be one of the most unused and unmentioned free search engine submission tools available to webmasters. The Alexa crawler (robot), which identifies itself as ia_archiver in the HTTP "User-agent" header field, uses a web-wide crawl strategy. Basically, it starts with a list of known URLs from across the entire Internet, then it fetches all local links found as it goes. There are several advantages to this approach, most importantly that it creates the least possible disruption to the sites being crawled.

Submitting to Teoma
Teoma is an important crawler-based search engine because it powers the main of the results that appear at the popular Ask Jeeves web site; in fact, Ask Jeeves owns Teoma. Teoma has no free submission page but that doesn't mean you can't get listed because Teoma crawls the web; therefore, if you have links pointing to your web site, you may get included automatically.
